New Accomplishments in CrossFit Open Workout 19.4
I know I was not the only one that felt that there were morefirst-time accomplishments done in CrossFit Open Workout 19.4 than any otherworkout yet this year. And I am happy to announce that I was one of thosepeople. Ok sort of.
I was actually excited to do this workout even with all theburpees involved. I came into the gym determined and finished better than Ithought that I would. That is always a great feeling.
Lets look at all the accomplishments made so far:
CrossFit Open Workout 19.4
For Total Time:
3 Rounds of:
- 10 Snatches
- 12 Bar-facing Burpees
Then, rest 3 minutes before continuing with:
3 Rounds of:
- 10 Bar Muscle Ups
- 12 Bar-Facing Burpees
Time Cap: 12 Minutes
How I Planned this Open Workout to go
For the women the snatches were only 65lbs which issomething I can move easily enough. And after that Bar-facing burpees aren’thard to physically do they just suck. The tie break for this workout was thetime it took to complete the first part of the workout.
The second part with the bar muscle ups was not going tohappen for me. The scaled version was pull-ups and while I have been working onthem, I haven’t done them in a workout yet. And to date had only ever done onereal chin over bar pull-up before.
So, my strategy was simple. First, go in and do the firstpart of the workout RX and try to get a decent time. Next do the scaled versionof the second part of the workout and try to get a pull-up in a workout underfatigue.
How did I do?
I ended up moving the bar pretty well for the snatches andmoved slower than I wanted on the burpees but I was still happy with my time. And it gave me another RX workout for the Open.
Now during warm-ups I had gotten a pull-up and it felt good, but I was concerned about how I would do after the first part of the workout.During last years Open I tried to get my first pull-up and failed.
This year was a different story. Not only did I do a pull-up, but I did 6! I was so excited and thrilled with my results.
But I wasn’t the only one.
A number of people from our box had their first muscle up and some like me their first pull-up. Some did their first one ever and even went on to do more than one. And it wasn’t just people from my box. Success stories have littered my Facebook and Instagram feeds all weekend.
I couldn’t be more thrilled and happier for all of those whoachieved success and even those who attempted and failed! Because you knowwhat, at least they tried and now they have bigger goals for next year.
CrossFit Community
This is what CrossFit is all about. Yes, we have our Elite level athletes that we look up to and love to watch do our sport, but we want to improve as well. We want to get to the next level in our fitness journey. Whether that is being able to do a pull-up for the first time or being about to string together muscle-ups. All levels of fitness are accepted in CrossFit and embraced.
And the community that comes together to celebrate with youis amazing. I am so grateful for the support that my community has given me andI am really going to miss the people in the box I am currently at.
But soon you will see me posting about CrossFit in Germanyand other countries and I can’t wait to share that journey with you all!
