Workout of the Week 5/3/2020

It is finally May and we are starting to see the world open back up some more. So for this Workout of the Week I want to see you get up and get outside.

If you can go to a park do it!! If that is still restricted just get out in your neighborhood. Its getting warmer outside and you need to get your vitamin D. May is mental health awareness month and we have been stuck inside for so long. The vitamin D will help!!

So for today's workout, you will want some space and maybe a yoga mat or abMat.

Movements

The first movement is running. For this, if you can get to a track do it. Otherwise, I would suggest measuring out 400 m and running there and back.

Then there are Push-ups. For these start in the plank position and go down so your chest touches the ground and then push all the way back up. Keep your back straight and try not to worm your way back up.

Sit-ups are next. These are pretty simple. Start by lying down on your back with your legs in a butterfly position. Then sit up, keeping your back straight and bring your shoulders past your hip crease. I recommend having an abMat under your back to help.

For the squats, start with your feet shoulder-width apart. Then squat down until your hip crease is below your knee crease, making sure to keep your weight on your heels and your knees tracking out over your toes. Also, keep your chest up. Then come back to a full standing position.

Workout of the Week

15 Min AMRAP

  • 800 m Run
  • 20 Push-ups
  • 30 Sit-ups
  • 40 Squats

Scaling options would be to walk versus run. Push-ups can be done on the knees or against a box or wall. You can also squat down to a box or chair.

I hope you get out and move and that the weather agrees with you. Now more than ever we need to take care of ourselves physically and mentally. Be sure to check out our other Workout of the Week posts for more ideas.
