Workout of the Week 12/13/2020

I am so excited to talk about the week ahead, but I am even more excited about this Workout of the Week! I have two exams this week and then the graduation date is Saturday! Ya girl did it!!!

So I still have to study for an exam to become a Certified Sports Nutritionist but ya girl has finished her first Master's degree. And in January I start my second one in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. Obviously I love fitness and nutrition and I plan on learning as much as I can so that I can extend that knowledge to you.

But first, we can start working on this workout. For today's workout, you will need a jumprope and a set of dumbbells.

Movements

Firstly, there are double unders. This is when the jump rope passes below your feet twice in one jump, hence the term double unders. 

Then we have Dumbbell Thrusters. Thrusters are a compound movement that combines squats with a push press. Start with the DBs at your shoulders, then you squat down making sure your hip crease is below your knee crease. Then as you stand up thrust the DBs up overhead in a push press movement. Bring the DBs back to your shoulders to start again.

7 Rounds for Time:

  • 50 DUs
  • 15 DB Thrusters

Scaling options would be to do single unders instead of double unders. The next would be to reduce the weight of the dumbbells for the thrusters.
