The 10 Essential Items I Keep in my Gym Bag

I am an avid fitness enthusiast. As many of you know I love CrossFit (if you haven’t figured it out yet) and I enjoy doing 5Ks and mud runs. I have even done a Half-Marathon and am signed up for my first 10K in July. I love sports and just being outdoors. This post is going to be about all my items I keep in my Gym bag.

I am also a firm believer in having the right equipment/gear/supplements for what you are doing. Anyone who has been to our house know that my husband and I have a huge selection of small home fitness equipment.

While we don’t exactly have a home gym, we do have plenty of things to get a good workout in. We also add to our gear and update it regularly. I am hoping for a future post I will be doing a DIY box for Box jumps and maybe even a pull up bar. But that is yet to be determined.

Anyways back to my gear. I have compiled a list of the Essential items that I keep my in my gym bag that does with me pretty much everywhere.

What’s in my Gym Bag

What is in my Gym Bag?

Shoes:

  • Nike Women's Metcon 4 XD Metallic Training Shoe AV2252 These are my CrossFit shoes. Or just weightlifting in general. They are very comfortable and great for all the different exercises that I do in a typical CrossFit workout. And they are made specifically for CrossFit if the name Metcon didn’t give it away already.

  • Asics Gel-Kayano 24- These are my running shoes. I use them when I do my 5Ks. But I bought them before I ran my Half Marathon.  I will wear them to CrossFit if we are doing a lot of running because they are more comfortable than my Metcons for longer distances.

Gear:

  • Bear Komplex 3 Hole Hand Carbon Fiber Grips- These are new to my collection. Although I have had a pair of grips for a while, It was definitely worth the investment in these bad boys. The size chart is exactly what I needed to pick the correct size. The 3 Hole provides more coverage which is great because I rip in more than one location.

  • Harbinger Men’s Firm Fit Contoured Belt-Yes I have a men’s weightlifting belt. I am 5’10” and I find the back support on the men’s belt is better for my longer torso. They do have a women’s belt as well if you don’t think you need such a big belt.

  • JumpNRope- This is my speed rope. If you are doing CrossFit and don’t have one I would highly suggest it. I no longer have to find one at the gym that is the right length for me to do my double unders. Even Non-CrossFit athletes love them as they are great speed ropes for exercise.

Supplements:

  1. Spark-THIS IS LIFE!! I love this stuff and have been taking it as a pre-workout since I was in middle school. It is great for before or a workout or just as a wake up. I use it instead of my morning coffee. Before I work out I like to mix it with the next two items for an extra umph.
  2. Arginine Extreme-This is a dedicated Pre-workout supplement that boosts stamina and increases muscle endurance. I love the flavor too. And it mixes well with Spark and Rehydrate.
  3. Rehydrate-This has recently been compared to Gatorade. It helps replace electrolytes and minerals lost during workouts. It can be used before, during and after workouts.
  4. O2 Gold-This stuff is amazing!! It literally makes me feel like I have an extra lung. It helps optimize the body’s use of oxygen during your activities. You are supposed to take 2 an hour before a workout. I only take 2 on race days or high cardio days, otherwise I just take one.

While these are not the only things that I carry around or the only items I use they are definitely some of the most essential to my workout regimen. These might not be the best solutions for everyone but for me, they are definitely what works. If you have any questions about them or even suggestions for other ones I would love to hear from you!
